Barry M. Smith, President, founded Affordable Housing Concepts, Inc. in 1988.  AHCI has facilitated numerous housing projects and, in so doing, Mr. Smith has built AHCI to become an advisor to several institutional investors and proactive developers.  AHCI holds a dynamic position in the affordable multi-family housing area some of which include assisted living facilities as a component.  He has served the industry on the Board of Directors of the Affordable Housing Tax Coalition. In addition to his finance and advisement responsibilities, Mr. Smith is also involved in the development of multi-family real estate.

From 1979 to 1988, Mr. Smith headed several corporate entities which were responsible for the structuring of $250,000,000 of transactions of tax-oriented equipment investments to institutional investors.  Mr. Smith is a graduate of Columbia Law School with a J.D. degree received in 1967.

Rona Smith is President of Housing Initiatives, Inc. She has been a developer of multi-family housing since 1982 as President and sole General Partner of First London Group.  First London Group was involved in high-end, private sector housing.  Committed exclusively to affordable and supportive housing since 1998, Housing Initiatives was formed, as a non-profit corporation, to serve this mission.  She is currently involved with three supportive service providers to build housing for their constituencies.  One, in the New York area, will house 60 women with AIDS.  Another is planned to serve previously incarcerated males who would otherwise be homeless and two others are intended for homeless youth, many of whom have ‘aged-out’ of the foster care system.

Mrs. Smith is involved with the development activities of Affordable Housing Concepts, Inc. and works as a consultant to developers, as needed.

Mrs. Smith holds a BA from CUNY, an MA and PhD from NYU and an MBA from Columbia Business School.  She is presently an adjunct Assistant Professor, in Real Estate Finance, at the New York University Real Estate Institute.
